JESSICA was born in Xi An. In 1989, she was admitted into the SHANGHAI MUSIC CONSERVATORY where she majored in Sanxian at the tender age of 13.

Under the tutorship of virtuoso Sanxian player, Zhang Nian Bing, she acquired such mastery over the instrument that she was invited to record a Sanxian duet with the famous composer and conductor, Yan Hui Chang. She gave her first public performance in 1994 at the SHANGHAI CONCERT HALL and in the following year, won the BEST PERFORMER AWARD in the 1995 International Chinese Music Competition.

In 1995, she was admitted into the CHINA MUSIC CONSERVATORY in Beijing to major in Sanxian under Professor Zhao Cheng Wei. Over the next 3 years, Jessica was also taught the Pipa, Guzheng, Ruan, Liuqing and other plucked instruments.

After graduating from the China Music Conservatory, she has been active in the studios, performing and recording for TV music, movie soundtrack, radio broadcasts and various classical and pop albums.

Jessica relocated to Singapore in 1999 and had since performed as well as represented Singapore in many high profile local and international events including:

Jessica is also the first Sanxian player in the world to break the tradition by playing the instrument standing up, while blending contemporary world elements in her music. Her revolutionary performance has been featured in many regional and international media including:

Besides the Sanxian, she is also an accomplished pianist and ballerina, having received training in piano and ballet from the age of 5.

She is currently recording her debut album due for release in early 2002. Two of the tracks produced by Singaporean composer ANDREW LUM in this upcoming album are already being licensed for release in Europe under two different compilations by Milan Music (France) in December 2001 and Free Form Records (Germany) in January 2002.
